This Memorial Day will be unprecedented, but as the Poppies grow in Flanders’ field, we too will persevere. 100 years ago, the world was recovering from the last worldwide H1N1 outbreak in 1918. WWI had ended, the first poppies started blooming on what was still a fresh battlefield. Back on this side of the pond, a small group of dedicated, community driven, combat-hardened Veterans saw an urgent need, in what would become our bustling little city. 100 years later the problems are not familiar, but they are not new either. There is still that urgent need to curate and service our Veteran and Military population and American Legion Post 36 is honored with this duty of continuing to persevere… until the last one comes home.
